Privacy Policy

This is a working draft, not a finished legal document. It's written to accurately describe what StreamHawk actually does today, as groundwork before a real public launch — it has not been reviewed by a solicitor. Get proper legal review before relying on it for users beyond early testing.

Who we are

StreamHawk ("we", "us") is operated by Kieran Hearne, based in the UK, at streamhawk.co.uk. This policy explains what personal data StreamHawk collects, why, and what rights you have over it, under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

What we use it for

Operating the service you've signed up for: posting your reels to the platforms you've connected, alerting your Discord when you go live, and generating auto-clipper highlight suggestions from your own stream.
Sending you StreamHawk product updates or promotional emails, but only if you've opted in — this is never on by default.
Basic security and fraud prevention (e.g. detecting abuse of the service).

The lawful bases we rely on: performance of a contract (running the service you asked for), consent (the newsletter, and specific OAuth permissions you approve), and legitimate interest (security).

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. It passes through the infrastructure providers and platforms needed to actually run the service:

Neon — our database host
Google Cloud — application hosting
Cloudflare — content delivery, DNS, and temporary video hosting for Instagram publishing
Groq — processes stream audio/chat signals to help identify highlight clips (no video content is sent, only derived signals)
Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google, Kick, and (in future) Twitch — whichever platforms you've explicitly connected, to actually post content or authenticate you
Discord — only if you've configured a webhook URL for live alerts

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers themselves offer (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) rather than operating our own separate arrangement — this is standard practice for a service this size, but worth knowing.

How long we keep it

Account data: for as long as your account exists.
Chat messages logged for auto-clipper analysis: pruned once a stream session finishes processing — not kept as a permanent chat archive.
OAuth tokens: until you disconnect that platform or delete your account.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to: give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or move it elsewhere. You can also withdraw newsletter consent at any time via the one-click unsubscribe link in any email, or the toggle in your account settings.

To exercise any of these, contact privacy@streamhawk.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think we've mishandled your data.

Cookies

We use one strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you logged in. It isn't used for tracking or advertising, and — because it's strictly necessary for the service to function — it doesn't require a cookie-consent banner under PECR.

Children

StreamHawk isn't intended for anyone under 13. If you're under the age required by any platform you connect (Kick, Twitch, etc. may set a higher minimum themselves), please don't use this service.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the version date at the top. Continued use of StreamHawk after a change means you accept the updated policy.
